Why We Created The Levy

We believe the people working to feed the nation and steward our land deserve more than recognition - they deserve real, practical support. The Farming Futures Levy is our way of giving back to the farming community, reinvesting in the people behind our produce.

How The Levy Works

The Farming Futures Levy is simple, fair, and impactful. For every raw meat purchase made through Lake District Meat Co.:

  • Our farmers contribute 2.5% of the gross sale price
  • We match that with a further 2.5% from our side

Together, we generate a 5% reinvestment fund - collected throughout the year and distributed annually to support farming initiatives that matter most.

Where Do The Funds Go?

The Farming Futures fund is used to provide targeted support to both new entrants and long-standing farmers within our network. This could include:

  • Access to specialist advice or agronomic guidance
  • Investment in equipment or infrastructure to modernise and improve farm operations
  • Support for younger generations looking to begin or continue the family farming tradition
  • Resources to help meet sustainability goals and improve land stewardship practices

Whether it’s a new gate, a soil testing kit, or mentoring for a next-generation farmer, our goal is to provide meaningful help where it’s needed most.
